Soil Screws®

Faster, and with fewer steps, the Chance® Soil Screw® retention wall system gives you economic advantages and can be installed quickly by the same hydraulic rotary equipment commonly used for soil nail wall construction.

Other benefits include immediate loading, absence of spoils to be removed, installation in any weather, and easy storage and reusability.

Chance® Soil Screw® walls have been used in federal highway projects for up to 40 feet. The main advantage of this type of system is to remove uncertainties with respect to performance. The cost is also very economical compared to the grouted soil nails, since these can be screwed in much faster than a post tensioned system.

When used as a temporary and permanent support in a shotcrete application, the main advantage is minimized vibration, which prevents damage to neighboring structures.

In a soil nail application, a Chance® screw anchor acts in a bearing mode compared to grouted anchor, which relies on friction. This gives the Chance® Soil Screw® retention wall system economic advantages. Bearing plates are spaced along the entire length of Soil Screw® anchors. They are ready for immediate loading directly following installation.
